Finding the Happy – Day 22

Today’s happy is brought to you by the letters “E” and “G.”

E is for Etsy.com.  I just discovered this place.  I know, many of you are probably rolling your eyes and going, “Just now?  It’s been around forever and it’s awesome!”  For the rest of you that didn’t know this place existed, it is a veritable treasure trove of handmade goods in any category you can imagine.  Since I discovered it a month ago, I bought Stephen’s birthday present, and replaced several items on my registry because I found awesome, cute, inexpensive handmade versions of commercial products.

There were absolutely no hints in the last sentence.

Honest.

G is for Gingersnappz.  This lady makes nursing covers, burp cloths, and a few other accessories from bright prints, modern designs and antique fabrics.  And I really like that she makes the burp cloths from cloth diapers.  Brilliant!  I absolutely love her stuff and have been trying to narrow down a nursing cover and burp cloth set that I liked, that would go with either gender child (more or less), that would match most of my clothing (I am female, after all…) and that my husband wouldn’t be afraid to sling over his shoulder (burp cloths, not nursing cover).  Hard to narrow down when you love just about every design on the page.

I found these:

Love, love, love them.

Problem.

No nursing cover to match these at all.  Not even close!

So, on a whim, I sent her a message telling her that I loved these cloths and that I was expecting in May and did she have the cloth and time available to make me a nursing cover that matched the cloth on the far left?

I messaged her last night around midnight so I wasn’t expecting to hear anything back anytime soon.  Normal people sleep around that time I’ve heard.

Ten minutes later, I get a response:

“Yes! I do have enough fabric of the Posy Party (choc background with flowers). If you want one just let me know and I will make a custom listing for you.”

We message back and forth and end the evening with me paying less than $40 for a custom-made nursing cover matching the cloth on the far left AND the burp cloth set you see above.

No one will be able to roll their eyes at me for breastfeeding in public when I whip out my stylish, oh-so-chic, custom-made nursing cover.  And then burp my baby using my stylish, oh-so-chic burp cloths.

It really is the little victories.

What’s your happy for today?

Many wonderful thanks to @tami_moore for the awesomely cute bunnies in the banner!
