February 2010

You are currently browsing the monthly archive for February 2010.

I stumbled across this today in my search for momma blogs out there and thought I’d pass it along. This is such an awesome way to gain readers and to find other blogs you didn’t know about.

One 2 Try hosts a Friday Follow every Friday (clever, no?) in which they simply use a Mr. Linky to publish an enormous list of blogs – you just submit yours, browse the list above your link and follow any blogs that jump out at you.

Here’s the blurb from their site:

“Welcome to the Friday Follow celebration hosted by One 2 TryHearts Make Families and Midday Escapades! We invite you to join us every Friday to get more blog followers and to follow other interesting blogs. It is all about sharing and having fun.

Here’s how YOU can join the celebration:

–Link up your blog name and URL using the MckLinky below. Only need to add on one blog to be seen on all the blog hops.

–Follow the Friday Follow hostesses listed in the first 3 slots.

–Follow as many blogs as you’d like.

–Take a moment to comment on the blogs telling them you’re from Friday Follow.

–Follow back when you get a new follower through Friday Follow.

The Blog Hop is the same at each of our three hosts blogs so you do not have to add your blog at each site. Just one – but you can follow each blog. Follow a few or follow them all.

The list is new each week. The links do not carry over. Please link up each week for new participants to find your blogs. The list is only open to add your blog links on Fridays. It will be visible all week to visit the blogs listed.”

Very cool.  Very simple.  I’m a fan.

Yes, I Did

Yes, I changed the site.

*freak out*

My reason for changing the theme is simply I was bored.  Ask my husband, I change my blog themes every few months or so because I get bored and want it to look “fresh” and “exciting” or some such something or another.

In addition to looking new, I’ve added some fun stuff and organized things a bit better.

You will note that my blogroll has moved to its own page!  Here you will find a collection of sites around the internet I visit often.  I’ll expand the list as I go through my bookmarks and reader in the next day or so but here are my absolute favorites.  If you’d like your site added to the list, leave me a comment on that page with your site URL and I’ll be happy to!  I just ask that you add mine in return.

In addition to my blogroll, I have made a button for some linky button love.  I’m more than happy to do a button exchange with you – just leave a comment with the URL of your site and where you placed my button so I can find it.  Those buttons already in my list get a free pass – I’d love for you to add my button anyway, though!

So, let me know what you think!

The massive nursery painting project was crossed off the to-do list as of 5pm today.  The room is painted, aired out (mostly) and cleaned, ready for the next phase – IKEA shopping!

I cannot express how awesome it is to have this done.  I’d set the goal of end of February to have the painting done, figuring we’d need lots of time.  Here we are, four days before the end of the month and done!  It’s so relieving in the midst of all the other uncontrollable chaos going on right now, to have something that I can check off and breathe easier about.

So check out the pics and let me know what you think of our painting.  It’s not the most professional job in the world but I’m pretty proud of it.  I laugh because my daughter now has has one of the coolest looking rooms in the house and she won’t even use it for 3-5 months.    But it is what it is and it satisfies my nesting instincts (which are in overdrive at the moment).

I’ll post more when we get furniture set up.  Hopefully we’re going to IKEA next week to spend our gift cards.  I’m really excited about this part, too.  I’m mostly excited about the fact that I have an excuse to not lift any boxes.  Have you tried to lift a box from IKEA?

Yeah, no way.

In other news, I had my 28 week appointment on Monday and it went well.  My tummy is the “right” measurement and my BP is good and everything else seems healthy.  My midwife suggested that I drink more water to help with my headaches and some of the pain I’m dealing with.  She said some of the pressure and pain in my back and hips could be caused by minor dehydration which leads to an “irritated uterus” apparently.  So I’m trying to drink more.

It’s so hard to do.  Have you ever tried to drink 8-10 glasses of water in a day?  Try it and then get back to me.

Another suggestion she made was to get a maternity support belt to lift my belly a little and ease the pressure.  The baby hasn’t dropped yet, she’s still swimming around pretty high, but the weight of my tummy is pulling and putting strain on my hips.  Couple that with my already existing back issues and you have a cranky momma-to-be nearly every evening now.  I ordered one when we got home so hopefully that will help.

Now that the painting is done, I can get back to my spring cleaning after resting for a little while.  I only have a little bit left then it’s just maintenance between now and D-Day.

So much still to do but I feel very accomplished!
