Ready for a Baby? No? Oh well…

We were saving this site to update everyone on momentous events in our marriage and what is more momentous than the first baby?  We were shocked and thrilled when we found out about a month ago but decided to only tell family and a few friends until the first ultrasound.

Ultrasound was yesterday and showed a very healthy little blob at 9 weeks.  Everything is right on track and momma is feeling the requisite nausea, cramping and tiredness that accompanies the first trimester.  Needless to say, everyone we’ve told is thrilled.  All my girlfriends are now Aunts, Stephen’s parents are super excited about the first grandchild, my mom already bought the baby a teddy bear and a friend of ours in California is knitting “something” for us.  It’s such a whirlwind but so cool at the same time.

In case anyone was wondering, yes, I’ll take belly photos as it grows.

In related news, we’re tentatively talking about purchasing a home in the next few months.  With a baby on the way, our current home could work but we’d have to give up the guest room.  Ideally, we’d like a little more space and would love to move back to Decatur so we’re going to examine jobs and money and see what we could do possibly after the first of the year.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Greatgrandmapat is totally excited. Are you planning to find out the sex when you can, or not? Big decision…

Definitely. We're not looking to get a bunch of unisex toys and furniture. If we do a yellow or green nursery it won't be because we don't know the gender.
